Exploring a New Artistic Direction

Hello again! It's been a while since my last blog post, but I haven’t forgotten about you. Life just threw a whirlwind of events my way that demanded my attention. One of those events was a new commissioned artwork for one of my collectors. Now, commissions aren't new to me, but this one had a unique twist: the style.

Presha and Lynn, two of my art collectors, have a deep appreciation for grunge, graffiti, and street art. They were on the hunt for something urban in a specific size, which led them to commission a piece. Without formalizing a deal, I suggested an idea that intrigued them. Although I have an extensive collection of urban photography, I hadn’t yet translated that into painting. Their request to create a piece that mirrored the essence of my urban photography sparked my creativity.

They gave me complete artistic freedom with just one guideline: a color palette of pinks, blues, and oranges. By Monday, I had the entire concept mapped out in my mind. The result was a diptych, finished within a week, featuring clean abstract lines that fit perfectly in their living room. I believe it’s my best abstract work yet, inspired by street art.

This commission led to another. They loved the piece so much that they commissioned a second one. This time, they wanted something more grunge, more graffiti, with even bolder colors—something to contrast the clean lines of the first piece. That’s when my journey into a new creative territory truly began.

Now, I'm exploring the thrilling combination of photography, spray paint, and acrylics. It feels like I’m giving myself permission to dive into this new medium, merging my fascination with street art, urban decay, and architecture. Recreating the textures of decay on canvas using brushes and spray paint has been an absolute joy.

I'm excited to share some of these new works with you. You can view them at my studio, Studio 314 at Silver Street Studios in Houston, or on my website: www.BogdanFotoArt.com. For a behind-the-scenes look at how these pieces come to life, follow me on Instagram at @bogdanoninstagram.

I hope you enjoy this artistic shift and my new pieces. Remember, when you purchase art from an artist you admire, you empower them to create more and give them the confidence they need to keep going.
